Incase you hadn’t already realised, I didn’t mean selected to actually play in the Rugby World Cup, I mean, I’ve been selected to work with a group of therapists out in Japan for the duration of the tournament, just as exciting hey? The company that I am working for is called Athletic Health of whom are based in London and provide specific therapists to deliver treatment at different events all over the world - check out their page for more information.
As many of you know, the tournament starts on Friday 20th September and finishes with the final being held at the Tokyo Stadium on Saturday 2nd November 2019 - a total of 6 weeks and 48 matches of rugby!
Whilst the nature of this job is highly confidential and specific details of who I am working with cannot be discussed - I am allowed to explain that I am providing sports massage to players competing in the tournament. With this being said, I will be flying out 2 weeks prior to the tournament starting, to provide recovery sports massage to help influence full fitness for the start of the competition. Whilst out there, I will be travelling to the likes of Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Kobe, Miyazaki, Fukuoka, Oita and Yokohama, so there will be a lot of sights to see (in-between working of course).
After being born into a rugby loving family and being immersed into the rugby way of life from an extremely young age - at the age of 23 - I am extremely excited to be working throughout this iconic tournament.
I will be providing travel updates throughout my trip to keep you up to date on my travels, as well as something to look back on in years to come.
You will be hearing from me shortly!
