Injury rehabilitation is exclusive to the client and their injury - whether it be acute or chronic - no two injuries are the same, therefore no two rehabilitation programmes are the same.
With a number of mulitdisiplinary demands considered, an appropriate programme will be designed with clear aims, objective and goals.
Taping and Strapping
With a variety of different tapes available, utilising athletic tape and kinisology tape is key. Athletic tape is used in sporting situations where support is essential to injury prevention. Kinesiology tape is used for reducing inflammation, support and pain relief.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deep layers of muscle and fascia. It's used for chronic aches, pains and tight areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, lower back pain, leg muscle tightness, sore shoulders etc. Deep tissue massage can help reduce stress related tension and headaches as well as relieving fatigued muscles.
Myofasical cupping is a technique used alongside massage to enhance the benefits. The plastic cups are strategically placed on specific points of the body that are either effected by pain or tight muscles/ fascia (connective tissue). The cupping process draws nutrient rich blood to the area to increase circulation and also accelerate the healing process of injured soft tissue fibres. This technique can be used to ease muscle spasms, drain lymph and cellular debris, and to help range of movement (to name a few). For more information, please ask.
Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, can enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.
Spinal manipulation is an advanced technique that is used to increased quality and quantity of movement. This technique of manual therapy combines the movement and breathing of the patient to increase range of movement and comfort.
Pregnancy massage is customised to an expectant mother's needs but is most often used to promote relaxation. Since many pregnant women suffer from lower back pain and swollen ankles especially in the later months, prenatal massage is a safe way to release tension and reduce stress on weight bearing limbs.
